It’s been quite the exciting year here at SW Creatives. We’ve hired two new team members, we’re launching a coworking space for the creative professional community, and we’re doing great work for international clients! Who knew!

We spent the first week of December at the US-Azerbaijan Trade Mission in Baku, Azerbaijan. Azer-where? We know, most of our team had never heard of Azerbaijan before Yakov Elizarov of Elizarov Consulting Group recruited us to attend the trade mission. Azerbaijan is an emerging, oil-rich country on the West coast of the Caspian Sea, bordering Armenia and Georgia to the West and Iran to the South. The trade mission allowed companies to develop a relationship with Azerbaijan to help them grow their Information & Communication Technology (ICT) sector.

During this trip, we were able to exhibit at the Bakutel Exhibition, participate in a day-long business forum hosted by the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, meet with US Ambassador Richard Morningstar at the US Embassy, visit the new Heydar Aliyev Museum, and meet with six nonprofits and NGOs in Azerbaijan, including UNICEF Azerbaijan and Madad Azerbaijan!

The country is also investing heavily in education. Madad Azerbaijan and the Ministry of ICT were particularly interested in what SW Creatives could provide in terms of web technology to support the delivery of distance education solutions, as well as being educators, leveraging our team’s experience as classroom professors at three major universities in Washington, DC.

If your organization is interested in working with Azerbaijan, whether it is providing your organization’s best practices, sharing or developing curriculum, or providing a service, we’d be happy to connect you with the right people! They are eager to learn, empower their citizens and develop a strong economy.
